Peptides
Peptides are made up of amino acids and are like mini proteins. They have the same chemical structure as proteins, but are shorter in length.
They are active molecules which send signals to your skin cells.
As the aging process begins, collagen starts to break down and the skin eventually forms fine lines and wrinkles.
If the skin gets damaged in any way and the collagen has been broken down, it then forms specific peptides naturally and alerts your skin of the damage and the need to make new collagen.
By applying peptides topically, we are tricking our skin into thinking it has lost collagen and needs to make more. The extra collagen then begins to re-plump the skin which decreases the signs of aging by reducing the depth, and sometimes even eliminating fine lines and wrinkles altogether.
The stimulation of growing new collagen by having peptides in your skin care products takes a small amount of time to show positive results which are usually seen around 8-12 weeks of use.

Squalane (Olive)
Actions:
Anti-aging, Antibacterial, Cell Regenerator, Moisturiser, UV Protector, Non-irritating, Non-comedonal (does not clog pores).
Medicinal uses:
The Squalane used in our Guinevera Face Food products is extracted from Olives and is one of the latest wow ingredients used in skin care. It naturally occurs in our bodies and is not to be confused with Squalene which is found in certain shark’s livers.
Squalene from sharks is unstable and tends to oxidize when exposed to the air, rendering it useless for extended shelf life.
Experts believe Squalane to be a natural moisturiser and is technically called an oil, but it does not have an oily feel, instead, it is a botanical lipid which mirrors human lipids, essential for healthy, youthful skin.
Squalane has the ability to penetrate deep within the layers of the skin without clogging the pores and being a carrier it like it is, it will carry other precious nutrients from other ingredients with it. This alone makes it a very valuable ingredient in combo with others, however, because of its nature and actions it can also be used alone with great results in any skincare regime.
(Scientists have found that the skin’s sebaceous glands synthesized approximately 10-12% Squalane). It is extremely compatible with the skin and is safe for all skin types making it a great choice for regenerative skin care and anti-aging products.
